With any medication, there is a risk of serious side effects that patients should be aware of. Fosamax (alendronate sodium) – produced by Merck – is no exception.
However, this medication that has been prescribed for patients living with Osteoporosis, has been linked to more serious side effects, including osteonecrosis of the jaw. Those who have suffered from the so-called “jaw death” after taking Fosomax are encouraged to look at and explore their options, including litigation against Merck.
On October 24, 2008, deadlines were set for expert disclosure and discovery, and a schedule was put into place indicating that the first trials for those who suffered from osteonecrosis of the jaw after taking Fosamax will begin in August of 2009 with the first case selected by Merck scheduled to take place in January 2010.
